Deep Discovery
Uncovering the innate idiosyncrasies and unique physical potential of every dancer
About Us
SU·素 Dance Consulting is rooted in a long-standing pursuit of movement expression and choreographic aesthetics.
We believe dance reveals a dancer's most authentic inner power rather than becoming a standardized artistic replica.Through the integration of traditional aesthetic discipline and the emotional clarity of minimalism.
We support elite youth dancers, artistic organizations, and educational institutions in developing both technical mastery and artistic sensibility.
Forged through over two decades of rigorous traditional training and nearly a decade of contemporary exploration, our artistic vision exists at the intersection of discipline and freedom.
"Su" signifies purity, restraint, and a return to essence. In an age defined by speed and noise, SU·素 upholds a language of movement that is sincere, still, and emotionally true.
Four Guiding Principles for Collaboration and Creation
Uncovering the innate idiosyncrasies and unique physical potential of every dancer
Translating personal traits into a highly recognizable, irreplaceable artistic presence
Subordinating technique to intuition, returning dance to the raw authenticity of inner emotion
Resisting standardized uniformity to awaken a bespoke, unrepeatable physical expression for each individual
Through an attentive reading of each dancer's innate qualities we translate their unique physical language into a distinctive artistic expression
Founder
Choreographer · Performer · Educator · Founder

Haorou Shi is an internationally active choreographer, performer, and educator whose practice spans over two decades of rigorous physical training and more than ten years of pedagogical commitment. Her work is grounded in the conviction that technique must subserviently serve intuition — that powerful, resonant movement originates not from the surface of the body, but from the depth of inner perception. At the core of her practice lies a singular pursuit: to discern and awaken the idiosyncratic physical and artistic qualities dormant within each individual mover.
Formation
Master of Fine Arts — Dance Performance & Choreography
Oakland, California, USA
A legendary sanctuary for avant-garde performing arts and a premier incubator of American modern dance's golden age. Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham revolutionized movement vocabulary on this ground; John Cage dismantled the boundaries between music and contemporary practice within these walls.
Within this environment of radical independence, Shi deconstructed inherited physical vocabularies, mastered cutting-edge contemporary systems, and forged a borderless artistic vision driven by an uncompromising ethos of creative autonomy.
Bachelor of Fine Arts — Chinese Traditional & Ethnic Folk Dance Performance
Beijing, China
The absolute apex of dance education in China — the Cradle of Chinese Dancers — representing the ultimate standard of orthodox physical discipline and elite aesthetic excellence. Training here begins in early formation and demands total physical surrender to the art form.
Years of intensive training from a formative age endowed Shi with impeccable physical control, virtuosic execution, and a profound internalization of Eastern aesthetic cadences — a foundation upon which all subsequent reinvention rests.
Artistry & Lineage
Her choreographic identity is defined by the collision and synthesis of two extremes: the stark, industrial coldness of Western contemporary aesthetics and the delicate nuance and profound tension of Eastern heritage. She rejects the replication of standardized forms. Instead, her method drives cross-cultural contemporary expression through multidisciplinary collaboration — with avant-garde musicians, costume architects, and visual artists — to silence external noise, trust visceral intuition, and awaken a bespoke, unrepeatable physical language within each dancer.
